What we buy — the complete list

No. Gold-plated (GP/GEP/HGE/RGP) and gold-filled (e.g. 1/20 12K GF) items contain only a tiny fraction of actual gold — usually around 5% or less by weight — so there is no meaningful precious-metal value to pay for. If an item is solid gold of any karat (10K–24K), we buy it.

Every karat of solid gold from about 8K up to 24K — 8K, 9K, 10K, 12K, 14K, 15K, 18K, 21K, 22K and 24K — including European purity marks like 333, 375, 417, 585, 750, 916 and 999. About 8K is our practical floor: below that the gold content is so low the piece is essentially gold-filled. Unmarked gold is tested on site.

It depends on what's underneath. A coin that is only plated or painted over a base-metal core has no meaningful value, so we can't buy it. But if the coin is actually solid gold or silver beneath a colorized or gilded coating — for example a real 14K or 22K coin — we absolutely buy it and value it on the real metal. These solid-core "coated" coins are uncommon, so we rarely see them.

Yes — essentially any US coin made of real silver, from the earliest types through 1964. That includes Flowing Hair, Draped Bust and Capped Bust coinage, all Seated Liberty denominations (half dimes, dimes, quarters, halves and dollars), three-cent "trimes," twenty-cent pieces, Trade dollars, and the familiar 90% silver Barber, Mercury, Roosevelt, Standing Liberty, Washington, Walking Liberty, Franklin, Kennedy, Morgan and Peace coins. We also buy 40% silver Kennedy halves (1965–1970) and 35% silver "war" nickels (1942–1945).

Absolutely. We buy platinum and palladium jewelry, coins, bars, and industrial/dental scrap. Look for marks such as PLAT, PT, 950 (platinum) or Pd, 950 (palladium).

No. A GIA/IGI/AGS certificate helps us make our strongest offer, but our diamond experts appraise loose and mounted stones on site. We typically buy natural loose diamonds 0.25 carat and larger, plus diamond jewelry. We do not buy lab-grown / lab-created diamonds.

Natural diamonds are our focus — roughly 90% of the time that's where the value is. We do consider fine natural colored gemstones (sapphires, rubies, emeralds) and natural or cultured pearls, but whether we make an offer and how much depends on the specific piece. We do not buy lab-grown / lab-created diamonds or gemstones, cubic zirconia, or moissanite.

Not for scrap value. Broken, bent, tangled, outdated, single earrings and mismatched pieces are all fine — precious metal is precious metal. Signed designer pieces and luxury watches in good condition may be worth well above melt.

No. We are a buyer and refiner of finished precious metal, not an ore-processing or assay lab. We can't test, crush, or refine rocks, quartz, ore, gravel, black sand, or pan/sluice concentrates with trace gold — and we can't buy dirt, cinder blocks, electronics, or catalytic converters. The one exception is natural placer gold and gold nuggets: actual solid gold you've already recovered, we happily purchase.
