How do I sell my metals to you through the mail?

Selling by mail starts with a short form on our mail-in page. Once your request is approved, we send you a free, insured, prepaid mailer, you ship your items to our Salem, Oregon refinery, and we test them and send you an offer. The program works in all 50 states.

The same trust and transparency you would get at our counter carries over to the mail-in process. Your items are weighed and tested by the refinery itself, not a middleman, and priced against a live feed of the international gold and silver markets.

Step by step

1. Submit the form. Tell us what you are sending: bullion coins or bars, gold or silver jewelry, scrap, dental gold, sterling flatware, silver coins, watches or diamonds. If you want a feel for current prices first, call or message our team through the contact page.
2. Receive your mailer. After approval we send a free, carrier-approved mailer with a prepaid shipping label. It is insured up to $1,000 as standard. If your items are worth more, ask for higher coverage before you ship.
3. Pack your items. Put small pieces in a sealed bag or envelope so nothing shifts, and wrap anything fragile. Include a note with your name and contact details, and a simple list of what is inside. Keep a copy and a few photos for your own records.
4. Ship from a staffed carrier location. Hand the package to a clerk rather than leaving it in a drop box, and keep the receipt with the tracking number. The package goes to Accurate Precious Metals Refineries, 1855 Hawthorne Ave NE, Salem, Oregon 97301.
5. We test and weigh. The refinery checks purity and weight and values each item on its actual metal content, or as bullion where that applies.
6. Get your offer. We contact you by phone, email or text. The offer holds for 14 days, so you have time to think or to check the current market on our live gold price page.
7. Accept or decline. Accept, and payment typically goes out within 1 to 3 business days by certified check or bank wire. Decline, and we return your items with free insured shipping. From arrival to payment is usually about 3 to 5 business days overall.

What it costs

Nothing up front. There are no evaluation fees, no shipping fees and no hidden or receiving fees. Payouts run close to the live spot price on gold and silver bullion, based on the metal content we measure on gold jewelry and scrap, and based on the metal content we measure for scrap silver jewelry and sterling flatware, depending on product, purity, condition, volume and market conditions.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Sending silver-plated items marked EPNS, Silverplate or Quadruple Plate; these have no meaningful melt value.
• Forgetting the note with your contact details, which slows down your offer.
• Shipping without asking for extra insurance when the contents are clearly worth more than $1,000.
• Using a drop box instead of a staffed counter, which leaves you without proof the carrier accepted the package.
