The 2024 1/10 oz Australian Gold Kangaroo coin features a new one-year-only design on the reverse, showcasing a kangaroo leaping across a parched creek bed in the Australian outback. In the background, a windmill and water storage tank can be seen, elements synonymous with rural Australia.
The reverse design also includes a “P125” mintmark in honor of the Perth Mint celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2024. An important security feature—a micro-laser engraved letter within the coin’s design visible only though a magnifying glass—is incorporated into the reverse as well.
The obverse of the 2024 Gold Kangaroo coin features a new portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, depicted in left-profile relief without the traditional crown. This marks the first time King Charles III appears on the Australian Gold Kangaroo series, replacing the effigy of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The coin is composed of 1/10 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold and has a legal tender value of $15 AUD. It is struck by the Perth Mint in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and encased in a protective acrylic capsule. The 2024 Gold Kangaroo has a limited worldwide mintage.
